How to Download TikTok Videos on Phone or Computer
Keep a copy of your TikTok, send an approved video to an editor, or prepare your next cut. This guide covers downloading a supported public video as an MP4, finding the file on your device, and getting it ready to edit.
Choose the right way to save your video
If you only need a copy on your phone, check TikTok’s own option first: open the video, tap Share, then Save video when available. TikTok says that option depends on the creator’s download setting. See TikTok’s download instructions.
For YTClip’s browser workflow, use a public video that you own or have permission to save. Bring the individual video link, rather than a profile, LIVE stream or photo slideshow. You need a free YTClip account; you do not enter your TikTok password.
Download a TikTok video with YTClip
- Copy the video link. In TikTok, open the post and choose Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the video’s address. Full video URLs and common TikTok share links are accepted.
- Open TikTok Downloader. Paste the link and select Prepare download. Sign in to YTClip when prompted; the page keeps your link.
- Wait for the file to be ready. Leave the page open while the source is checked and the MP4 is prepared. Preparation can take longer when TikTok limits access.
- Select Download MP4. Save the file within ten minutes of it becoming ready. Open your saved copy and check both picture and sound.
For example, a 45-second product demonstration you recorded can become a local MP4 for a teammate to review. Give the saved file a useful name, such as product-demo-take-2.mp4, so it is easy to find next week.
Find the download on iPhone, Android or desktop
- iPhone: check the browser’s Downloads menu and the Files app. A browser download may be in Files rather than Photos.
- Android: check your browser’s Downloads list or your device’s Downloads folder.
- Computer: open the browser’s Downloads list to locate the MP4.
If you opened YTClip inside a social app and saving does not work, open the downloader in your normal Safari or Chrome browser. Keep the completed local file: YTClip’s prepared download is temporary, not a permanent backup.
Understand the free allowance and expiry
Free includes two TikTok downloads per rolling 30 days, plus separate allowances of two YouTube downloads and two Instagram Reel downloads. A Free download can be up to ten minutes and 100 MB, with quality up to 720p when available.
Failed preparation does not use this allowance. A successfully prepared file counts even if you let it expire without saving it. The file remains available for ten minutes so you can retry an interrupted transfer, then it is deleted.
Pro includes 30 full-video downloads shared across the three platforms per rolling 30 days, up to 30 minutes and 250 MB each, with quality up to 1080p when available. Downloads have their own allowance and use no clip exports or AI minutes. See current plans.
If the video will not download
Confirm that your link opens the individual public video. Private, deleted, age-restricted, login-required or region-restricted content may be unavailable. A public post can also fail because TikTok temporarily blocks retrieval. Wait before trying again; repeatedly preparing the same link will not remove a platform restriction.
YTClip does not guarantee watermark removal or erase text already in the video. For a clean edit of your own content, use your original recording.
Turn your saved video into a new edit
With Pro, choose Upload your video in the clip editor and use the MP4 you saved. Trim the opening, add corrected captions, or change the crop for your next post. A TikTok link goes in the downloader; the editor’s link input is for YouTube.
Start with our caption and transcript guide. Save a reusable export preset when you find a style you like, then apply it to your next recording.
Put the guide into practice
