How to Download YouTube Clips on iPhone

By the YTClip Team · Updated June 29, 2026 · 5 min read

You don't need a special app — or anything sketchy from the App Store — to save a moment from a YouTube video. You can download a YouTube clip directly to your iPhone using just Safari. No app, no jailbreak, no desktop required. Here's exactly how to do it.

What you'll need

Download a YouTube clip on iPhone in 5 steps

The trick is to use a browser-based clipper that lets you save a YouTube clip to your iPhone by rendering only the segment you choose. Because everything happens in Safari, you never install anything, and the finished clip drops straight into Photos or Files.

  1. Copy the YouTube link. In the YouTube app, tap Share and choose Copy Link. If you're already watching in Safari, just copy the URL from the address bar.
  2. Open ytclip.com in Safari. Head to the YouTube clip downloader in a new Safari tab.
  3. Paste the link. Tap the input field, paste your link, and the video preview loads so you can line up the exact moment.
  4. Set your start and end time. Scrub the preview to find the moment, or type the times directly (for example 1:30 and 2:05) to keep things precise.
  5. Tap Create clip, then save. YTClip renders just that segment. When it's ready, tap the share or download icon and choose Save Video to Photos for the camera roll, or Save to Files to file it away.

Where your clip is saved

When the share sheet appears, iOS gives you a couple of choices. For a video clip, Save Video to Photos drops the MP4 into your camera roll, right alongside your own videos — handy if you plan to post it to a chat or social app. If you'd rather keep it tidy, Save to Files stores it in the Files app where you can sort it into folders or hand it off to another app. If you exported audio instead, the MP3 saves to Files, since the Photos app only holds images and video.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download a YouTube clip on iPhone without an app?

Yes. YTClip runs entirely in Safari, so there's nothing to install. You paste a YouTube link, pick your start and end time, and download the clip straight to your iPhone.

Where do downloaded clips go on my iPhone?

You decide from the iOS share sheet. Choose Save Video to Photos to send a video clip to your camera roll, or Save to Files to store it in the Files app. Audio downloads like MP3 save to Files.

Does this work from inside the YouTube app?

Yes. Open the video in the YouTube app, tap the Share button, and choose Copy Link. Then switch to Safari, open YTClip, and paste the link to make your clip.
